It is called ‘Barrikkaayi’. Ofcourse, it is plently available in Chennai. Now it is the season for this fruit. It is just like apple inside, but the skin is ‘greenish’ one. It has got three or four varieties, such as ordinary, vaal barrikkaayi’ etc.

fruit looks like Navalpazham. But dont confuse with that.
From the web search ACAI is kind of Palm grown in south american countries. so far the acai berry fruit is not seen in chennai .
Probably you may check with Pazhamuthisolai / Nilgiris / fruit shop at creamsroad around Anna Nagar area. where you may get different varieties of imported fruits
this fruit recently become popular for diet supplement.
